The drive from the Central to the Southern Oregon coast was nonstop awesome. We particularly fancied the stretch from Gold Beach to Brookings, which while less lush than the Central and Northern coasts, it was more saturated with volcanic bastions exploding from the sea. We crashed at Harris Beach State Park. Nice park. A bit of road noise, but the pristine potties and beautiful bluffs more than made up for that annoyance. We drove in and out of nearby Brookings a few times. Based on our cursory observations, Brookings is an amazing town: unique and gorgeous beaches, forested hills and mountains, a wide and clear river, and a quaint yet requisite downtown. Could easily see The Lingles living in a town like this one day.
